Michael Cardito
Managing Director and Portfolio Manager
Mr. Cardito is a managing director and portfolio manager of Oaktree’s GFI Energy Group, which executes the Power Opportunities investment strategy. He is responsible for the overall management of the group and its investing activities, including setting investment strategy, sourcing and executing investment opportunities, and board oversight of the group’s portfolio companies. Mr. Cardito currently serves on the boards of Enercon Services, LPW Group, Richards Manufacturing, System One Services and Universal Plant Services. He previously served on the boards of Building Infrastructure Solutions Group, MWH Constructors, Renewable Energy Infrastructure Group, Saber Power Services, Shermco Industries, Solomon Corporation, Sterling Solutions, and Trench Plate Rental Company. For most of his career, Mr. Cardito has focused on control private equity investing in mid-sized businesses which serve or supply critical infrastructure in power, energy, utility, water/wastewater and niche industrial end markets. Prior to joining Oaktree in 2011, he was a principal with Harvest Partners, LP, a New York-based private equity firm. Before that, Mr. Cardito was a vice president with Nautic Partners, LLC, a Providence, Rhode Island-based private equity firm. Mr. Cardito received a B.A. degree in economics from Colgate University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
