Fraud and Phishing

Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (together with its affiliates, “Oaktree”) does not conduct any public solicitation for investments, fundraising, cryptocurrency or opening accounts through postings or advertisements on social media sites, messaging apps such as Telegram, WeChat or WhatsApp, print or online articles or other public platforms. Any communication received through these platforms purporting to be from Oaktree or an Oaktree representative is fraudulent and should be reported to legal authorities and to [email protected]. Oaktree reserves the right to take all appropriate steps to protect its legal rights and reputation.

Please be aware that Oaktree’s name, brand and reputation may be misused by unauthorized persons to publish fake articles and websites; post fraudulent advertisements; launch illegitimate marketing, fundraising and/or investment campaigns; or engage in other fraudulent schemes, such as illicit employment recruitment activities, to gain money and/or confidential information as well as to deceive, misinform, or otherwise cause harm to individuals and businesses. The actions of these unauthorized persons are not associated with Oaktree and, as such, Oaktree is not responsible for the consequences of any of these fraudulent activities.

Oaktree encourages clients, employees and members of the public to stay vigilant against fraud and to exercise caution when revealing personal information or sending money to anyone. When communicating through digital media, please:

  • Be cautious about responding to unsolicited emails that appear to have come from an Oaktree email address. Such emails may be “spoofed,” and may in fact have come from another email address at another domain name. Check email addresses carefully and respond only to known or authorized Oaktree email accounts at the domain names listed below.

  • Be cautious about clicking on links or opening attachments included with unsolicited emails, text messages or social media messages that appear to have come from Oaktree. These links may redirect to a non-Oaktree site, and these attachments may include malware. Emails from Oaktree will only come from one of the authorized domains identified below. Oaktree’s only authorized social media accounts are LinkedIn, X, Facebook, YouTube, Howard Marks LinkedIn, Howard Marks X, and Howard Marks Facebook.

  • Do not send emails intended for Oaktree employees or representatives to any email address other than an authorized Oaktree email address. Oaktree does not permit its employees or authorized representatives to send or receive work-related emails from personal email accounts or any other addresses. Oaktree employees do not use Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com or other free public email accounts to send or receive work-related communications.

  • Communicate only with Oaktree’s authorized websites and email domains listed below. No other websites or email domains are authorized.

  • Review the information posted on the Contact Us section of OaktreeCapital.com for a listing of Oaktree office locations.

  • Be aware that Oaktree does not:

    • Market investments with guaranteed returns or promises of quick profits.

    • Provide training on how to trade stocks, options, precious metals, cryptocurrency or any other type of investment through any website or social media platform.

    • Offer any type of personal brokerage or trading accounts for individuals.

    • Provide personal loans to individuals.

    If you receive a message purporting to be from Oaktree making these types of guarantees, promises or offers, it is fraudulent and should be reported to appropriate legal authorities and to [email protected]

  • Be aware of fraudulent LinkedIn accounts posing as Oaktree employees or claiming to be recruiting for job opportunities at Oaktree. Oaktree’s official LinkedIn account is Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. Howard Marks’s official LinkedIn account is Howard Marks. If you have encountered or become aware of any suspicious activity on LinkedIn related to Oaktree, please report it to [email protected] and share any relevant messages and screenshots.
